"Happily Ever After, or so..."
For this project, I wanted to imagine what happens after the famous « Happily Ever After », and how love evolves in time. I focused on the slow degradation of love when facing the every day life, quarrels and disappointments, far from the idyllic ending of fairytales.
I expressed it with a very thin ring, representing a heart hidden in a set of curves and loops. The jewel is so delicate that some parts will break when the ring is worn : this is how I chose to represent the deterioration of love, its fragility.
I enhanced this idea with with black paint on the surface on the ring, that will slowly peel, illustrating the wear of love in time.
But I didn’t want to stay on this very pessimistic vision of love, I also wanted to show that true, strong feelings remain through time...
That is how I got the idea of transforming the heart-shaped element of the ring into a pendant : when the unnecessary curves are broken, the heart becomes visible and can be disconnected from the ring to be worn as a necklace.
This evolution of the jewel echoes the evolution of love.
